Tricritical Phenomena and Cascades of Temperature Phase Transitions in a Ferromagnetic Liquid Crystal Suspension

We consider temperature-driven phase transitions occurring in a liquid crystal suspension of ferromagnetic particles within the Landau–de Gennes theory. The temperature dependences order parameters uniaxial model with vector parameter for magnetic subsystem are obtained. dimensionless expression free energy density has been used study behavior general regularities system. Phase state diagrams and ensemble different values phenomenological expansion coefficients constructed. It is shown that considered admits existence cascade transitions: isotropic phase–superparamagnetic nematic phase–ferromagnetic phase. have mesomorphic crystal, spontaneous magnetization can appear continuous way or by jump decreasing temperature, which corresponds to tricritical behavior. corresponding triple points numerically found.
